Breaking news: Iranian people clash with Special Forces, anti-riot guards

Following days of unrest and riots in a number of northwestern provinces of Iran, today, Thursday, thousands of people from city of Ahar, in East Azerbaijan Province took to the streets to demonstrate against the regime suppressive and degrading policies towards ethnic minorities.  Many demonstrators, especially the youth, clashed with the anti-riot guards.

This demonstration was called for  in advance through social media and started as the night fell and by each minute the number of the demonstrators grew larger and larger.
By chanting anti-regime slogans including “people of Azerbaijan do not bow to suppression”, the demonstrators expressed their anger and dismay at the clerical regime. They also condemned the degrading and insulting show aired by the state television against Azeri people.
State security forces and anti-riot guards used tear gas to disperse the crowd. They also arrested dozens of youth which the names of 20 of them have been announced.
