Arak residents stage 18th week of demos

INTV, 20 Oct 2013 – In the 18th week of protests staged by Arak residents, on Saturday a large gathering of people rallied in the city’s National Garden Square protesting high air pollution and mullahs’ neglect regarding the people’s health.
This demonstration took place while State Security Force agents were stationed in the area in large numbers and the regime had even destroyed the National Park’s macadam and walkways. They had also placed sand bags around the square and dug holes and ditches. The mullahs also sent former health ministry Masoume Ebtekar to prevent people from taking part in this demo.
The protesters held placards with them written, “Arak has the highest number of cancer cases in the country” and “Arak residents want to breathe”.
