Amnesty International’s Iran Researcher has said that Iran’s justice system demonstrates a shocking disregard for international human rights law and basic humanity, Human Rights Brief, the center for human rights and humanitarian law published on March, 9.
This statement comes after the intentional blinding of a man who was convicted for pouring acid on another man, causing him to go blind. He was also ordered to pay “blood money” and sentenced to ten years in prison. The “eye for an eye punishment” is cruel and inhumane, and only one form of corporal punishment carried out in Iran that is in violation of international law.
