On Friday, August 8th, an inmate by the name of Reza Karami, held in unit 1 of Ghezel Hesar Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran, lost his life while in detention due to lack of medical care. Being a senior this inmate was to be released from prison but authorities refused. Furthermore, on Monday, August 11th, another inmate by the name of Mohammad Amir – gone sick also in this prison – went to the prison clinic and lost his life there due to lack of medical treatment. Inmate dies in southern Iran prison
On Wednesday, August 13th, an inmate by the name of Mohammad Bibiyan lost his life in Bandar Abbas Central Prison in southern Iran. This inmate was working in the labor section where he suffered a heart attack and died. No timely medical care was provided for this prisoner at the time of this incident. (NCRI – August 14, 2014)
