A group of political prisoners in Gohardasht Prison of Karaj, west of Tehran, issued a statement announcing a 24-hour hunger strike for Sunday, June 23rd, in support of political prisoner Reza Shahabi who is on his 24th day of hunger strike and in critical conditions.
A part of this statement reads:
“Reza Shahabi is on his 24th day of hunger strike protesting arbitrary and illegal measures. He has lost 9 kilos of his weight and unfortunately due to various illnesses, including back problems and heart illnesses, he is currently in critical conditions. While announcing a 24-hour hunger strike, we express our sympathy and solidarity with all his humanitarian and rightful demands, and we call on all entities and the Iranian people and all across the globe to raise their voice in protest against this rights violation and injustice that is imposed against him.”
