Scandalous Coup against the Leader of National Movement of Iran

August 19, is the anniversary of disgraceful coup d’ état against Dr. Mohammed Mossadegh’s government, the only legal and democratic government ever came to power in Iran. The coup was planned and financed under direct intervention of foreign services, and was supported by the reactionary mullahs and with the help of bunch of thugs and hooligans. It was carried out against the legal government of Dr. Mossadegh, with the aim of bringing the dictator Shah to power.
The grounds for this conspiracy were set long before August 19. On August 16, the first stage of the coup failed and Shah ran away. But the second stage of the coup started on August 19, in which $390,000 were distrbuted among some corrupt mullahs and army generals and officers. These mercenaries started the coup by creating disorder and violent clashes with supporters of Prime Minister Dr. Mossadegh in Baharestan Sq. (near parliament); gradually they took over all the governmental institutions including Iran’s national Radio. Next, they attacked Dr. Mossadegh’s home and made the siege stricter until his house was looted and ruined.
This way, the Imperial despotism, which had been defeated during the Constitutional Revolution in 1906, once again dominated the fate of the Iranian people.
