Atomic Bomb used for the first time against Hiroshima in World War II

On August 6, 1945, City of Hiroshima in Japan was targeted by a nuclear bomb and was destroyed.

Following the fall of Berlin in May 1945 by the allied forces including US, Soviet Union, France and Britain, the Second World War ended in Europe, but the war still continued in
Japan. After taking over the Okinawa Island near Japan, the US Army attacked Japan by its bombers. The climax of these attacks was the nuclear bomb explosion in Hiroshima,

Hiroshima had 200,000 residents, 90,000 of whom were killed in this bombing and 75,000 injured.

Three days later, on August 9, another bomb, more powerful than the first, was dropped on Nagasaki, killing about 39,000 people and injuring about 25,000 others. The bomb also destroyed about 40% of the city’s buildings. Nagasaki has been rebuilt and is a spiritual centre for movements to ban nuclear weapon s. Japan’s formal surrender on September 2 ended the war.
