Ashraf residents must be treated based on international human rights covenants

Iraqi Parliament Economic Commission Chairman Ahmad al-Alvani said in recent remarks that Ashraf residents must be treated according to international human rights covenants.
“Ashraf residents are guests and they must be treated based on international human rights covenants,” al-Alvani said.
He stressed to this day the behavior Ashraf residents have been treated is rejected.
“The Iranian regime’s traces are obvious and the fact that it pressures the Iraqi government to kill and expel Ashraf residents,” he added. “The government must not succumb to these pressures.”
“There are political intentions behind the use of violence against Camp Ashraf residents and it is up to the United Nations to solve this problem and to intervene to protect Ashraf residents,” al-Alvani continued.
