At least 6 inmates from halls 1 and 3, and unit 2 of Ghezel Hesar Prison in the city of Karaj, west of Tehran, were transferred to solitary confinement on Sunday, April 20th.
Inmates of hall 3 began widespread protests after learning of the authorities’ intention to transfer their fellow inmates to solitary confinement, preventing the transfer of one of these prisoners for execution.
According to reports obtained from inside Iran, Mohammad Bahri, 37, who has been detained in this prison for 18 months, was one of the prisoners transferred to solitary confinement to be executed.
A new, unprecedented wave of executions has intensified across Iran. Khamenei has escalated his policy of executions and bloody crackdown to contain the restive Iranian population angry over unemployment, rising prices of goods, poverty, bribes and corruption. This mid-evil policy is being implemented by judiciary chief Mullah Sadegh Larijani, Mullah Mahmoud Alavi and Mullah Hassan Rouhani under the pretext of ‘moderation’.
