According to reports obtained from inside Iran, on the morning of Sunday, April 20th, the Iranian regime’s henchmen intended to execute five inmates. However, when their families had come for a last meeting with their loved ones, the prisoners of unit 2 rioted after seeing this scene and prevented the execution of these inmates. The prison authorities, fearing this riot escalating amongst the inmates, quickly transferred the five inmates out of the area and to unit 1 of the facility. There is yet to be any information of these prisoners and the tensions are high in unit two of Ghezel Hesar Prison.
It is worth noting that most of the inmates in unit 2, number at 800 to 1,000 inmates, are on death row.
