Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in a letter to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on him to announce Palestine as under UN protection and appoint a committee to follow up on its issues.
According to international news agencies Mahmoud Abbas has also called for an investigative committee into Israel’s air attacks against Gaza. According to the latest reports the number of Palestinian casualties has surpassed 170 dead and over 1,200 injured.
