The White House said Friday it was “very troubled” by the crisis in Lebanon and urged Iran and Syria to end their support for the Hezbollah group battling the government in Beirut.
“We are very troubled by the recent actions of Hezbollah. We urge Hezbollah to stop their attempt to defy the lawful decisions taken by the democratically elected Lebanese government,” said spokesman Gordon Johndroe.
“We also urge Iran and Syria to stop their support of Hezbollah and its destabilizing effects on Lebanon,” he told reporters.
