Mohammad Amin Agushi, a retired teacher that is jailed in internal exile in Zahedan Central Prison (in southeast Iran) was transferred to solitary confinement of the quarantine ward on his 5th on hunger strike. This ward is known as the ‘torture dungeon’.
This political prisoner went on hunger strike on Tuesday, July 8th, protesting inhumane conditions and his continued exile in this prison. This is while he has asthma and other illnesses and prison authorities are refusing to provide him medical treatment. On Saturday, July 12th, he was transferred to solitary confinement of the quarantine ward known as the ‘torture dungeon’ due to its atrocious conditions. The cells in this ward are very small and lack minimum necessities. These cells also lack any cooling systems in the extreme heat of the summer season in this region of Iran.
