Free Syria Army fighters made further advances towards Damascus and seized control of yet another military base belonging to government forces. FSA announced its members also gained complete control over the 46th Special Forces Battalion near Aleppo. Forces loyal to Assad used this base to pound residential areas in Aleppo and the neighboring vicinity.
This military base, with an area of 18 square kilometers located between Aleppo and the Turkish border, is considered a strategic area. After seizing control of this battalion base, FSA fighters will be able to target the Al Neirab military airport with their home-made cannons.
FSA fighters also confiscated large amounts weapons, including 15 main battle tanks. Numerous soldiers loyal to Assad were arrested during this attack with many of them joining FSA ranks afterwards.
