Following the capture of strategic positions in Ma’rib Province by popular resistance forces in Yemen, these units are now clearing all remaining areas in this province of Houthis and troops loyal to ousted dictator Ali Abdullah Salah, Al Arabiya TV reported on Tuesday.
Fort Kufel is of strategic importance and has recently been captured by joint Arab forces, press sources say. It is said that the capture of this fort is a major development in the liberation of the city Sarwah.
In this regard dozens of Houthis have been killed, injured or taken captive in recent clashes. In fronts across Ma’rib Province more than 50 Houthis had surrendered themselves to Yemen government forces, informed sources said.
Moreover, a large amount of weapons and ammunition have been seized by popular resistance forces in caches located in the Faw region and near Fort Kufel.
Many Houthis have been seen fleeing these areas.
