Popular resistance forces in Yemen are making major advances in Taizz Province with support provided by units of this city’s military council, Al Jazeera reported on Friday, July 31st. Attacks were staged on the strategic areas of Tabet and Massoud, and the Hadnan village was also taken over by the rebels.
Sources say an ambush placed by rebels left dozens of Houthi and Ali Abdullah Salah insurgents killed and injured. Dozens of other Houthi militants were forced to flee the area, sources added.
Other reports indicate popular resistance forces, backed by National Army units, have taken over the al-Alam base located on the highway linking Aden and Ab-yen provinces. This new victory is of strategic importance for the popular resistance forces.
Commanders of these units emphasize they will continue their advances to other areas of Lahij and Ab-yen provinces currently controlled by the Houthis and take complete control over all roads leading to Aden.
