Al Arabiya.net, 17 August 2015 – Popular resistance forces and army units in Yemen have captured the strategic Jibl Sabr area and dozens of Houthi militants were taken as POWs. In the meantime, the ‘camp’ area near the presidential palace and its fort nearby were also captured by the popular resistance forces.
In the latest developments in Ta’izz popular resistance forces gained control over various hilltops, killing and wounding numerous Houthi militants and troops loyal to ousted dictator Ali Abdullah Salah. Intense clashes also continued into the presidential palace, with Houthi militants being encircled from all corners. Locals were seen celebrating these victories with fireworks.
Popular resistance forces also gained control over all roads in Dhamar and liberated many areas in this province.
The Popular Resistance Coordination Council issued a statement saying the operations aimed at liberating and reestablishing government, military and security apparatuses in Ta’izz airport and Port al-Makha’ will continue until all these areas are cleansed of Houthi militants.
