Bashar Assad has launched the 15th chlorine gas attack against Syrian civilians. At the same time the OPCW has issued a statement without mentioning this matter at all, saying the destruction of chemical stockpiles in Syria will restart in the next few days. The UN’s silence in the face of Assad using chlorine gas is encouraging him to continue such attacks.
In the bombings of the Tamaniya region around Idlib and the city of Kafar Zita near Hama where toxic chlorine gas was used, a number of civilians were seen suffocating. Assad’s military choppers used barrel bombs carrying chlorine gas in these areas on residential areas. This measure led to more civilians being injured, most of them being women and children.
