In an ambush staged by Iraqi armed tribes south of Baghdad, the commander of the 23rd Brigade of Maliki’s 17th Division was seriously injured and a number of his bodyguards were killed, al-Rafedein TV reported.
“Armed tribes in Ramadi staged an attack in the Alboziyab region against Maliki’s military forces and mercenaries. Along with many of Maliki’s forces being killed, the armed tribes also destroyed a large number of their vehicles and equipment, forcing many of Maliki’s troops to flee the scene,” said General Hessam al-Doleimi, a member of the Anbar Armed Tribes Military Council.
The armed tribes also staged successful attacks in the Albu Tamar and Khalediya regions.
