
A ceremony commemorating the 8th anniversary of the death of Palestinian’s historic leader the late-Yasser Arafat was held in Ramallah Sunday at his memorial. President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, spoke at the ceremony, and while emphasizing the path of the late-Palestinian leader in reaching an independent Palestinian state and lasting peace said: “We will stay in our homeland and we are committed to the establishment of two states”. “Building settlements on Palestinian territory is an obstacle in the path of peace, and by setting aside this obstacle we can go back to the peace process”.
Underscoring the unity of the Palestinian nation, Mahmoud Abbas stated: “We want to end the division between Palestinians”.
