US State Dept. Accessibility, transparency the main elements in military dimension of Iran’s nuclear program

US State dept. spokeswoman, Ms. Marie Harf said on Thursday, May 21, 2015 that we’ve said a number of times since Lausanne that we and the Iranians have agreed to undertake a process to develop a list for access in terms of the PMD issue. The people and places on that list are an ongoing topic of conversation, but we will not agree to any final agreement that doesn’t meet what we need to get out of that piece of it.
Ms. Harf added that the US expects to come to a solution that will give us and the IAEA the assurances we need with regards to access and transparency. And as we’ve said all along if we don’t get what we need we won’t say yes.
The US State Dept. spokeswoman also said: “We outlined the general things we need. I have said we won’t accept something that doesn’t cut off the plutonium pathway at Arak just like we won’t accept something that doesn’t give us access and transparency into possible military dimensions of their program. And also we will not accept something less than what we need on access and transparency. I’m not going to get into a number of days and whether or not that’s good or not good or sufficient or not sufficient. That’s a very specific negotiating position that’s different than the general principles guiding our negotiating positions.”.
