SYRIA – The shooting and violence may soon stop for the first time in five years in Syria.
Secretary of State John Kerry says a provisional agreement was reached for a ceasefire in Syria’s civil war. While Kerry says the details of the ceasefire still need to be worked out with Russia, one US lawmaker is weary of any deal sticking.
“I don’t trust the Russians. The last time we tried this they continued to bomb our friends who they think are their opponents propping up Assad. If we can get it I think it helps humanity, it helps the situation there, but at the same time I think to acquiesce to the Russians or to a dictator that has killed 400,000 people in the end will not be successful and lead to more violence and turmoil,” U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger said.
