US politicians and legislators against Obama arms aid to Iraq

Senators disagree with US military support to the Iraqi Government. Senator Menendez and a number of other senior senators say that Maliki has still not been able to gain the trust of the US regarding heavy weaponry. Both the House and Senate Foreign Relations Committees have halted the sale of such weapons to Maliki. They have also expressed despondency and regret about Maliki’s sectarian policies and his cooperation with the Iranian regime in aiding the Syrian regime.
Meanwhile, former White House intelligence official Kent Pollack has said that weapon shipments will not resolve Iraq’s dilemmas and it will only result in the Maliki government resorting to more force.
Pollack and others urged the Obama Administration to condition military aid to Maliki to reconciliation steps to allow the entrance of minority leaders into the government.
