In his trip to Azerbaijan to see an American delegation, Major-General Alexander Yakushin, first deputy head of Russia’s Space Forces said: The objective of this trip is to make the United States experts familiar with the efficiency of the Qabala anti-missile radar station in Azerbaijan in order to confront the Iranian regime’s missile threats.

Citing this general, the Azerbaijan Press Agency (APA) stated: The level of combat readiness of Qabala station is very high and we proved to our American colleagues that it would be possible to modernize it and use it jointly.

General Henry Obering, head of the US missile defense Agency Announced in this visit that since this station was set up during the former soviet regime and it is not equipped with advanced facilities, it couldn’t be replaced by no means with the US missile defense system which is supposed to be set up in Poland and Czech Republic. Therefore The US intends to use Qabala station only as part of its anti-missile System.
