AFP, Washington, July 21, 2008 (excerpts) – The White House said Monday that Iran and North Korea remain in what US President George W. Bush dubbed an “axis of evil” with Saddam Hussein’s Iraq.
“I think that until they give up their nuclear weapons programs completely and verifiably, I think that we keep them in the same category,” spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters.
“They came up well short,” she said. “They’re missing an opportunity for a very generous incentives package, and …additional sanctions could be on the way.”
