Al-Khaleej daily, published in Bahrain, reported: The US forces have increased protective and security measures in order to control the planes that land in Najaf Airport.The daily wrote: The US is concerned that the Iranian regime carries out secret flights to Najaf.
The Iraqi security forces said the US is concerned that Najaf Airport is converted to a place for IRGC or its affiliated elements’ infiltration ; according to these sources the Iraqi government tries to form a military unit devoid of political tendencies to be rendered safeguarding of Najaf Airport security; nevertheless, he US forces believe the Iraqi Army units don’t have enough experiences in this field and they are influenced by sectarian motivations and therefore Najaf Airport must be under close lookout to make sure that the Iranian regime’s agents’ entrance is prevented.
These sources said that the US forces try to equip Najaf Airport with detecting instruments that could monitor any secret flights between Iranian airports and Najaf Airport and possibly Iranian military planes’ landings.
