In interview with Reuters, the representatives of three UN Security Council’s permanent members emphasized on necessity of the immediate approval of that Council’s resolution for expansion of international sanctions against the Iranian regime.
Vitally Churkin, Russian representative to the UN, said that Moscow, like Washington and Paris, saw no reason to wait for the report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about the Iranian regime’s nuclear program.
Richard Grinnell, US representation bureau in the UN, also said that they had waited enough; the second resolution was approved in March 2007 and since the Iranian regime didn’t heed the UN Security Council’s demands, the next step must be taken and the new sanctions must be approved as soon as possible.
According to this report the French representative supported the immediate approval of UNSC resolution to expand sanctions against the Iranian regime.
