The United Nations warned if the current economic conditions continue in the Gaza Strip this area will literally become unlivable in 5 years’ time.
A UN trade and development conference was held on Tuesday, September 1st where a report was issued describing last year’s attack by Israel against Gaza as the reason behind half a million people losing their homes and unemployment skyrocketing to 44%.
This report says 8 years of economic blockade on Gaza by Israel and three wars in this region in the past 6 years have led to increasing poverty for Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip.
More than 70% of Gaza residents are facing food insecurity and are in need of international humanitarian aid, the UN reported.
