UN General Assembly Third Committee discusses human rights abuse in Iran

UN General Assembly Third Committee discusses human rights abuse in Iran

A number of representatives of different countries reiterating the deterioration of human rights abuse in Iran under the clerical regime in the General Assembly’s Third Committee meeting in New York, condemned inhuman death sentences and stoning and specially executions of the youth by the Iranian regime.

Norwegian representative, Mona Juul while expressed concern over brutal ways of executions carried out in Iran said Norway rejects capital punishment and execution.

Australian representative, Rod Kemp expressed his country’s abhorrence of recent stoning sentences carried out in Iran and also execution of people who were under age at the time of offence.

The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Zalmay Khalilzad expressed concern over violation of human rights in Iran. He said the suppression of political and religious activists, journalists, and human rights activists this year has caused the most concern.

Also representatives of Switzerland, New Zealand and European Union condemned violations of human rights in Iran and called for putting and end to the suppression of journalists and human rights activists in Iran.
