
UK Foreign Minister William Hague rejected any military intervention in Iraq, but did say the UK might provide humanitarian support.
In an interview with BBC, Hague said this is on the shoulders of the Iraqi leadership to take action regarding the deteriorating military situation, adding the UK supports the US decision on how to approach this crisis.
Senior NATO and UK officials are saying they have no plan for military intervention in Iraq.
NATO Secretary-General Andre Rasmussen in his visit to Madrid on Thursday said NATO has no plan or any request for action. Rasmussen said he sees no role for NATO in Iraq.
