
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said American warplanes and drones will reach Turkish bases very soon, Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday, August 5th. In a meeting with his American counterpart on the sidelines of the ASEAN meetings Cavusoglu said a comprehensive and powerful war will begin soon against ISIS.
“Under the framework of our agreement with the US we have made advances and place our bases, including the Incirlik airbase, are placed at the disposal of their warplanes,” Cavusoglu said in an interview Wednesday with Turkish state TV.
“US warplanes and drones will soon launch an all-out war against ISIS along with our forces”, he added.
Turkish warplanes launched airstrikes against ISIS positions for the first time on July 24th, following a suicide bombing in southern Turkey that left at least 32 people killed. Ankara held ISIS responsible for the suicide attack. Afterwards an official of the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, July 29th said under an agreement signed with the US Ankara has placed its strategic Incirlik airbase at the disposal of the US-led anti-ISIS coalition forces.
