The White House has authorized a request to send 350 additional US troops to Iraq to protect American facilities and personnel in Baghdad. The move came just hours after the new video that purportedly shows the beheading of a second US journalist.
CNN said with these additional 350 US troops, the total number of US troops in Iraq would push it over one thousand who would be in Iraq, according to the US, as advisors to the Iraqi Security forces and the Kurdish Pishmarges. These latest 350 troops will be embassy security in Baghdad protecting the US mission in Iraq.
