Tens of thousands of demonstrators in Beirut rallied on Saturday night, August 29th and chanted slogans against corruption, media reports indicate. The protesters expressed their extreme anger over deteriorating public service conditions, especially the trash crisis. Demonstrators in this rally specified a 72-hour deadline demanding Lebanon’s environment minister to step down. In the late hours of the night a number of angry demonstrators, most of them being youths, were seen clashing with security forces.
Lebanese demonstrators consider the current government structure as based on sectarian rationing and are demanding serious changes in this regard.
