In an unprecedented and unexpected measure, Syrian security forces raided and closed down Hamas offices across the country.
Prior to this Syrian officials had time and again pressured Hamas leaders on their positions regarding the current developments in this country, resulting in Hamas’ leaders and senior officials relocating to Egypt, Jordan and Qatar.
According to a report aired by Al Jazeera TV, this measure by Assad’s security forces against Hamas is based on their positions in condemning Assad’s bombing of the Palestinian refugee camp.
This action by the Syrian security forces shows how separated these two former allies have become, Al Jazeera added.
Al Arabiya TV stressed Hamas’ positions surprised not only the Syrian regime, but also Tehran.
