Syrian rebels gained a significant victory and seized control of the city of Newa in Deraa Province, destroying two main centers of Assad forces, killing 50 of these mercenaries and completely taking over the city. A number of Assad forces were also injured and taken as POWs.
Furthermore, the road leading from Newa to other cities and villages also came under the rebels’ control. During the past few days the rebels have also taken over the al-Jabiya heights, which is of strategic importance where the ‘74’ base is located. Enemy forces suffered major casualties in these clashes.
Orient TV reporter from Deraa showed footages of an Assad helicopter gunship being downed west of Newa.
