Syrian rebels targeted Russian forces by launching Grad missiles on Monday in Latakia Province, western Syria, after obtaining intelligence of the presence of Russian military troops in Jibla military airport.
The sounds of numerous heavy explosions were also heard all around the towns of Ghouta near Damascus. Inside the Syrian capital itself Syrian rebels and Assad troops were seen clashing near the town of Harasta.
Bashar Assad’s warplanes were also reported to have launched airstrikes in the city of Jisr al-Shuqur and Ma’r al-Na’man in Idlib Province.
In numerous areas of Zabadani, northeast of Damascus, clashes were reported continuing between Assad forces and Lebanese Hezbollah militants against Syrian rebels. Assad’s artillery units were also launching indiscriminate barrages on the town.
