Efforts by Russia to convince the Syria opposition and regional countries to establish a national unity government in Syria and hold talks regarding Bashar Assad’s fate were strongly rejected by the Syria opposition, Al Arabiya reported on Friday, August 14.
Once again the Syrian opposition coalition strongly denied any proposal without Bashar Assad being set aside. The coalition explained its position to the Russians and emphasized they will not back down or negotiate on this matter.
Syrian National Coalition President Khaled al-Khoja in his visit to Moscow told Russian officials that his presence in this country is only aimed at discussing the establishment of the transition government.
