Syria opposition leader: Iran not able to support Assad with its proxies

Syrian National Coalition President Khalid Khoja took part in an interview with Al Jazeera on Sunday explaining how during the past 4½ years Bashar Assad has used all his weapons against civilians, and is now resorting to barrel bombs and Russian missiles.
Before Russia entered the scene the Syrian regime was falling apart, he added. Assad lost control of the north and south of Syria, placed the east under ISIS control where he doesn’t bomb ISIS and his only targets are the Free Syrian Army in the liberated areas.
Iranian elements were not able to help out Bashar Assad, Khoja added. Iran dispatched its Shiite proxies from Pakistan, India and other countries to Syria to fight alongside the Assad army, but they were not able to support Assad and save him from being overthrown. It is the Russians that have come to Assad’s rescue to prolong his rule, he added.
