
Heavy clashes erupted between Lebanese Hezbollah militants and the Syrian armed opposition in a number of fronts, with the most dangerous being the city of Zabadani, Al Arabiya TV reported on Saturday, August 22nd. These clashes were followed by a series of airstrikes conducted by Assad warplanes on the city, leaving a number of civilians killed and injured. At least 26 barrel bombs have been dropped on Zabadani on Friday and Saturday, and various areas of the city have been targeted by 12 surface-to-surface missiles.
