
The strategic location of the city of Duma, located just 9 kilometers from Damascus, is one of the main elements that the Assad regime continues its vicious bombings on this city, Al Jazeera reported. The victims are mostly women and children.
Duma is the biggest city and considered the important part of cities near Damascus. This city is also just 4 kilometers away from grounds still held by Assad. The population of Duma is 110,000 and it is located near the Aleppo-Damascus International Highway, adding to its strategic importance.
In recent weeks Assad warplanes have been dropping bombs and missiles in various cities near Damascus. From the beginning of Syrian people’s uprising to this day 70 massacres have been carried out in Duma and each have left behind dozens killed, various sources say. The latest of such attacks took place in downtown Duma with over 110 people killed and hundreds of others wounded.
