Security sources said troops loyal to the legitimate government of Yemen have taken control over the city of Taffeh in al-Bayda Province in central parts of the country, Sky News reported on Friday, August 14th. This is the first city captured by popular resistance forces in al-Bayda Province and is located 268 kilometers from Sana’a.
Popular resistance forces captured al-Areef base in heavy clashes between popular resistance forces and elements loyal to ousted dictator Ali Abdullah Salah in al-Bayda Province. Arab coalition warplanes also bombed positions of Salah troops, including the 26th army brigade base. Two other fronts witnessed clashes between popular resistance forces and Houthi militants.
In Ma’reb Province a large number of elements associated to the Houthis and a battalion of the Presidential Guard linked to Salah surrendered themselves to popular resistance forces.
In Ta’izz dozens of Houthi militants and Salah troops were killed in the Jomhouri, Zabab and Zanghal districts.
The new phase of Operation Golden Arrow is aimed at capturing the provinces of al-Jawf and Shabwah.
