State of Law bloc close to agreement with Iraqiya

Al-Jazirah daily (printed in Saudi Arabia) July 7, 2010
The State of Law bloc, under Nouri Maliki whose premiership in Iraq has come to an end, is very close to a mutual agreement on power sharing and participation with Iraqiya led by former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi. This is due to the fact Iraqiya includes Arabic and national figures that are considered heavyweights in Iraq’s political and national spectrum and the people of this country take them seriously. These figures, such as Dr. Tariq al-Hashemi, Saleh Mutlaq, Osama al-Nujaifi and Rafi al-Essawi, as Iraqiya leaders, have the strongest influence among Sunnis and the Iraqi population as a whole. Their political power goes far beyond their provinces.
Al-Jazirah daily added:
These are the pillars of Iraqiya bloc that took parliamentary seats formerly belonging to pro-Iranian regime parties. Therefore, with the State of Law bloc and Iraqiya inching closer to a power sharing agreement, supporters of the Iranian regime have gone mad knowing these four men have to and must take four of the main ministries.
Describing differences and crisis among the pro-Iranian regime National Alliance, Al-Jazeera Newspaper wrote:
Tehran, leading the case of electing Iraq’s next prime minster and looking to fulfill its ethnic interests, once again encouraged groups affiliated to Ammar Hakim’s Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC) to take the lead in this regard. MP Mohammad Mehdi al-Bayati, member of SIIC’s military wing of the Badr Organization, and member of the Iranian regime’s army and intelligence services during the Persian Gulf War, emphasized: “The National Alliance understands time is running out, and its leaders insist the constitution must not be violated and promises made must be respected. Therefore, all parties in the Alliance are hasty to solve all issues.” He added, “The reason behind the current crisis is the State-of-Law’s insistence on Maliki’s candidacy for premiership, while they realize all parties have problems with him and do not accept him…”
