Amir Turki Faisal, former Saudi ambassador in Washington, expressed hope that US and Iranian meddling in Iraq will not lead to a third term for Maliki as prime minister, Radio Sawa reported.
On Monday in a speech at the Woodrow Wilson Center the former Riyadh ambassador said US and Saudi differences on Maliki cannot be resolved.
Four years ago Maliki was able to establish a coalition to become prime minister again thanks to pressures imposed by the US and the Iranian regime.
“Maliki has no social base,” he added.
