Al-Baghdadiya TV reported citing Ayatollah Bashir al-Nojeifi saying, “Nouri Maliki and those with him went to the senior religious leaders with bare feet to kiss their feet, and I say this to have it be written in history that the religious leaders in Najaf and Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, along with other senior religious leaders were the first to say Maliki’s first and second government was involved in corruption… to have it be written in history I say that the response of Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir al-Nojeifi to Maliki was, “You voters, see the failure of Maliki’s government”…
“Agriculture in Iraq is dead. There are no services. My brothers and I of the religious leaders have advised the government more than enough, but advice won’t do any good. Therefore, in the future elections in the provinces and the central elections you must elect someone who has religion and a conscience, someone who thinks of the people before he thinks of his own pocket…” he added.
