Senior Iraqi MP: All Iraqi factions believe Iran has had negative role in Iraq

Regarding the outcome of the second meeting of cooperation and coordination committee of Iraq’s neighboring countries in Damascus, Al-Arabiya TV interviewed with Abdulkarim al-Samarraii, deputy chairman of the Iraqi Parliament’s Commission of Security and Defense. Parts of the interview is as below:

Q: Regarding the disputes between Iraqi and Iranian delegations at the second meeting of cooperation and coordination committee of Iraq’s neighboring countries in Damascus, are these disputes for reaching to a correct solution or they are as a sign of intensification of defference and split between the two countries.

Abdulkarim al-Samarraii: The Iraqi delegation and all official and political factions have evolved to believe that the Iranian regime plays a negative role in Iraq; therefore, when the Iraqi delegation blamed the Iranian regime for Basra incidents , the Iranian delegation rejected it.

Regarding discussions among different Iraqi organizations and the talks that took place at the time of Ahmadinejad’s trip to Iraq, Al-Arabiya reporter asked: What did you do about the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI)?

Abdulkarim al-Samarraii: Naturally, we have to differentiate between those parties who have peaceful presence in Iraq and don’t target Iraq’s security, with those groups who instigate religious violence and have been involved in the big creating such big disputes.
