INTV, 31 Oct 2013 – Following Maliki’s meeting with US senators, Senator John McCain in a press conference said Maliki was upset about the harsh-toned letter of US Senate leaders to Obama criticizing the Iraqi premier’s policies.
He was upset about the senators’ letter, McCain said, adding I was very explicit with Maliki and told him if he seeks the help he has asked for, we must have a strategy and we must know how these aids will be used and we must witness true changes in Iraq.
Al Jazeera TV reported US politicians protested Maliki and said if he continues to sideline the Kurds, distance many Shiites and name many of the Sunnis as terrorists, no amount of security aid will be able to bring stability and security to Iraq.
US lawmakers in this visit by Maliki to the Congress demanded he receive this message that his policies are paving the path for a civil war in Iraq.
