Former Senator Joe Lieberman said that while the ‘temporary sanctions’ on Iran were meant to bring a ‘permanent solution’ to its nuclear program, “Now it looks like we’re heading toward the permanent end of economic sanctions and the temporary dialing back of Iran’s nuclear program.”
Lieberman, who represented Connecticut in the U.S. Senate from 1989 to 2013, spoke about the impending Iran deal.
Lieberman was the first Orthodox Jew to serve in the Senate and became the first Jewish American to be named to a major political party ticket when Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore selected him as his running mate in 2000.
