In line with meetings taking place in Doha to declare the establishment of the new Syrian opposition coalition, according to a source in the Free Syrian Army leadership discussions have taken place among the FSA senior command in recent days based on gathering all battalions and groups under FSA command, Al Sharq Al-Awsat daily reported.
FSA political advisor Bassam Dada said the name of pilot General Mohammad Fares has been mentioned as the probable FSA high commander.
Syrian National Council member Jabr Al-Shofi told Al Sharq Al-Awsat efforts are being made to unite the military opposition and it is expected these meetings will lead to positive results. Al Shofi takes this issue into consideration that these efforts have no relation to the pressures placed on the political opposition.
