Saudi forces reach border of Houthi heartland in Yemen

Joint Saudi forces attacked and destroyed a military convoy belonging to Houthi rebels and troops loyal to ousted dictator Ali Abdullah Salah on Friday, August 28th, the Al Arabiya.net website reported. This convoy included 15 flat-bed trucks carrying tanks and the attack was carried out near the Saudi-Yemen border. In the meantime Saudi forces continued their advances on Yemeni soil and reached the border of Houthi heartland in Sa’dah Province.

Houthi tanks attempted to advance towards the banned areas near the al-Harath region in Jazan.
Reporters witnessed advances made by Saudi forces near the Sa’dah border. Their objectives in these operations is to counter constant attacks launched by the Houthis from this area against Saudi soil.
Saudi forces had entered Sa’dah Province last Wednesday and advanced a few kilometers into Yemeni soil.
Sa’dah is a mountainous province, considered the heartland of Houthi militants and is located 243 kilometers north of the Yemeni capital of Sana’a.
