Saudi Arabia: Iranian regime will not be any part of Yemen talks

Saudi envoy to the United Nations, Abdullah al-Moallemi said on Wednesday he can “guarantee” that Iran will not be invited to the U.N. talks in Geneva on May 28 between the warring Yemeni parties.

Moallemi told reports in New York that he doesn’t see any reason for Iran – which Saudi Arabia accuses of supporting the Houthi militias – to attend the talks aimed at ending the seven weeks war.
Moallemi was speaking to reporters after a meeting with his Yemeni and Qatari counterparts; they all agreed Iran should not be invited to the talks.
The envoy accused Houthis, who attempted to topple the internationally recognized government of Abedrabbu Mansour Hadi through a coup. He also accused them of committing 74 attacks at Saudi Arabian soil during the five-day humanitarian truce last week.
He also said Saudi Arabia is ready to renew the truce if “all sides” are “committed” to the ceasefire.
Moallemi, however, said Saudi military leaders will be the ultimate decision makers if there will be a truce renewal or not.

Qatari ambassador to the UN, Allia Al-Sani also insisted that Iran cannot be a relevant party to Yemen crisis and what would happen in that country. The only legitimate way to solve the crisis in Yemen is through the GCC and the Arab coalition in the Gulf, she said.
